KUCHING: The education fraternity has been urged to help the nation attain its objectives in the Education Development Master Plan (Pelan Induk Pembangunan Pendidikan 2006 – 2010), and more members who excel in the field services are needed.
Sarawak Education Director Dr Haji Julaihi Bin Haji Bujang made this call at the Pejabat Pelajaran Gabungan Kuching Excellent Services Award Presentation 2008 ceremony for education personnel held at the Dewan Suarah Kuching yesterday.
He said to boost the standard in the field or the quality of members, the following guidelines were useful in their daily chores or activities: endeavour to understand, deepen know how and appreciate the objectives, wishes and related spirit embodied in the PIPP; have the sense of urgency in implementing each program or project in the PIPP; simplify all work or job - each member should be a facilitator in ensuring applications, appeals and other works are handled with efficiently and quickly without frustrating bureaucratic procedures; have an honest and trustworthy attitude, reject bribe and corruption - each member should be accessible, orderly, and competent/skillful in work, individual high integrity; implementing tasks correctly at the first time; and holding full responsibility towards self-achievement as well as the team’s.
“The above guidelines are very important and much desired. They should be practised sincerely and seriously by all members of education or education personnel wherever you may be,” he pointed out.
A total of 741 persons from Kuching Division received the Award Certificates of Excellent Services (in 2007).
Julaihi also urged the award receivers to remain committed and to scale greater height in personal achievement with the recognition obtained.
He was confident that they would work harder and the present occasion was like having the birth of more excellent human capital as desired in the nation’s vision.
“For those who are not yet awarded, today’s event can serve as an inspiration and incentive towards further quality works,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of teamwork in addition to excellent personal performance and that all officials or personnel should exhibit a work culture of pro-active, duty conscious and excellence.
